Large Slingerland black chrome Last viewed: 2 hours ago

I'm going down there to look at these today. Sale is primarily contingent on being able to get everything into my car and that they're not too beaten up (duh).

Apparently there is only a single tom mount for the bass drum and no stand for the small toms.

Picture on this is bad, but I'd appreciate some advice (other than getting a bigger car): :D

Also: If anyone has a Super Set-O-Matic bass drum unit and a clip on stand for concert toms, I may be in the market soon.

Thanks!

If the black chrome is in good shape, that's a pretty good deal. Keep in mind those are single headed. Check to see if they are 3 ply. If they are and if you were to make those double head - they would sound GREAT. If they are 5 ply, they would still sound excellent, but would not have near the warmth. Oh man, that has the potential to be a very sweet kit. Good luck on this one. I've always had a spot in my life for a black chrome kit. TWENTY SIX bass??!! Dang. That's ... big. You might want to get a taller throne while you are shopping for the new auto. I believe that size bass led to the development of platform shoes - had to reach the pedal, you know.

Advertised sizes: 8-10-12-14-16-18-26

Actual sizes: 10-12-14-15-16-18-26

Black chrome is very good on the bass and two floor toms, fair on the mounted toms (12 and 15 have the most noticeable damage). 10 and 12 are 3-ply concert toms (10 is an unusual 5.5" depth) with regular S-O-M brackets, not clips. Everything else is 5 ply.

Heads are not mounted on any tom, but the seller has two slightly used clear Pinstripes for each tom. I would want to purchase a set of Diplomats for the bottoms.

Tuning screws are sporadically installed, mainly to keep the rims attached to each tom. The seller has a box with the rest of them, but some have rust issues and about half of them are missing their washers.

Mufflers are installed on the double-headed toms, but the 14 is missing the adjustment knob. There are also some rust issues with the legs for the 18" FT.

Chrome on the lugs and Stick-Saver rims is pretty good, considering the kit's age.

No mounting hardware at all is included.

I told the owner that if it was ready for immediate use, I would not have dickered, but I asked him to come down on his price since I will have to invest at least $250 in heads and hardware to get this in playing shape. He was not prepared to negotiate at this point, but said he'll give me a call in a week if he can't sell it.

This is more of a want than a need. It would also require a readjustment of my playing style as I'm currently using a 10-12-14-22.
