Hi all,
Unfortunately my first post has to be a warning, but I don't want anyone else to fall victim to this scam. Currently there is a beautiful white L&S snare on Ebay which was just relisted. The reason was because my wife (I love her) caught the seller running the price up using a bid retraction scam. Basically, he uses shill accounts to overbid the highest bidder, which allows him to know the max bid. He then retracts and bids just below that max bid so as to push the bids to their maximum artificially. He actually did it twice in this one listing, once to me and once to my wife who was bidding on it from her "secret" account to give to me as a gift after I decided not to go any higher. See the bid link here:

She noticed the second bid retraction and thought something was up, so she checked out his other listings and sure enough, he does this on almost all his drum sales. When she confronted the seller via email his reply was, "sorry it didn't work out". We've reported him to Ebay, but I wanted to let everyone here know that if you plan to bid on that drum or any others from this seller be wary. Here's hoping my next post will be about something much cooler like the Leedy Tango I just bought in an old estate box!!
Dan
