This has come up before. I have seen purported Vistalite Jazzette kits before. I haven't seen close-up pictures and I haven't really studied them to see what was up with them.

Chances are there are some legit Vista Jazzette kits out there. Although they must be on the same island as all the mahogany Jazzettes!

Ludwig was, is and always will be the most prolific vintage American drum manufacturing name. They always had the widest variety of everything related to drums. So, just by that logic alone, they would have made at least a few Jazzette kits as experiments, if nothing else.

That being said, I can't imagine that a Vistalite version of a Jazzette would have been popular amongst jazz drummers. First of all, the Jazzette was NOT a popular drum configuration for Ludwig, in any regard. Rare, yes....popular, no. It was not the preferred brand for the small kit jazz guys. Jazz guys sought out the Gretsch bop kits -period. And Vistalites were certainly not a jazz drummers type of "vibe" if you know what I mean. Vistalites were a more of a visual thing that blended better with the vibe related to rock concert shows....in my view, anyway. I know of no jazz drummer who would be caught dead playing a Vistalite kit. Eye Ball

Isn't he the guy who makes very similar looking Crystalite shells? HmmmmHmmmm

Yes, he owns RCI but he certainly have an impressive legit Vistalite colection. And he's a very nice guy to deal with...
