Impulse buy... first vintage drum purchase, did I get ripped off? Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Well, I just moved into a new home, and my full drumset is several states away without hope of migrating anytime soon.

In the meantime, I do have my cymbals, some hardware, and a snare. All I was missing was a bass drum for a nice playable minimal setup.

SO i wanted that funky vintage thang and I purchased this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140371256578&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1182

Make and model is a 1967 ( if i'm not mistaken) ludwig club date 14 x 22 in what looks to be exceptional condition, for 300$. Is this a steal or a shaft?

Thanks lads, looking foward to posting around, you all seem like reasonable folk :)

Mmmmmmm - no you didn't get the shaft - but it wasn't a particularly good deal either. Sorta higher-side of market value. Thang is - now do you make a hard push for the matching rack tom as well ?

There is a floor tom here in this section I think, and it is red sparkle Club Date. Very nice condition.

Nahh.. you did fine. Red sparkle always seems to bring top dollar. If you ever decide to get out of the kit you will be in good shape.

I really like the center lug look... the chrome on RED really jumps.

I have a bass drum and snare in the red... still looking for some old Slingerland toms to finish mine.

Congrats and welcome!

Not a Guru... just interested..

Good to hear it wasn't a complete dig. I love the sounds of these things but have rarely gotten to play one personally, looking forward to it :)

Wish I had enough spare cash to pick up that tom too Cool Dude
