I need help identifying these drums Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

I have 2 crummy pictures of this kit and am trying to figure out what they are. The seller is only asking twenty ($20.00) bucks but he is an hour away and before I make the drive I was hoping to know more about them.

He told me that they were Evans drums but I think he just looked at the heads and figured that.

Can anyone tell what these are from looking at these 2 terrible pics?

[EDIT - Scroll down for pics of the snare. I scored a Rogers Dynasonic in the deal. Can you help me date it?]

Any help appreciated!

For twenty bucks and a bit of fuel...you really can't go wrong.

I hear ya... for that price you can hardly go wrong. It's just that I have to wait to pick them up until later today and I'm dying to know more about them. Impatient I guess.

Well, when I get them later today I'll take better pictures and post them here.

But in the mean time... if you have an idea about what they are I'd love to hear it!

Pics are too small to tell much. Tom mount assembly may be a '70's Pearl-made rig.

But hell....$20....the snare and hi-hat stand together are likely worth $50 off the bat.....

Please do post better pics when you have. ;)

OK, I picked up the drums and may have stumbled across a nice find. As far as I can tell the 2 toms and bass are worthless. However, the snare may be a nice find. I need help determining its value though. I paid 20.00 for everything so I feel I got my moneys worth already.

It's a Rogers Dyna-Sonic Custom Built 10 lug snare. It's missing parts from the snare assembly on bottom. Light pitting but will probably clean up nicely.

Any ideas on exactly what it is and how much it's worth?

Here are some pics I just took.

Jim and Jay... thanks for the input. It is starting to sound like I got a great deal.

The more and more I look at this the more I realize what great shape it is in. The chrome looks more dirty than pitted. I don't really even see any pitting.

I just wish I know more about the exact model so I can properly estimate the value of this drum.

And Jay, the other drums really are crap. I'll post some pics but they are really cheap drums in really bad shape.

I just did the "magnet test" on the shell and it appears that it is chrome over brass. I used a pretty strong magnet and it does not attract to the shell at all. However it does attract to the rims.

The exact model is a dynasonic. That's it, there ain't no more. As for date, I'm not the Rogers guru here, and I don't see a picture of the Rogers script logo (or Big R), but judging from the throw, lugs and muffler knob, I'l go ahead and say 1967 - 1969.

Okay Rogers guru's, how did I do? Did Rogers date stamp the insides of their metal snare shells?

Seems a pity to have to spend another $75.00 on the snare, so I'll be a sport and take it off your hands for an even $100.00 as is - Ain't I a pal??? :) :) :)

Just Kidding - Awesome score and let's see the other drums, even though they may be crap... you never know.
