HUGE Slingy kit ! ? value ? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Hi. Local cat is selling this WMP kit. He claims it to be a Gene Krupa. 22" bass, 20" floor, 12" rack.

Quote from seller:

"...dubbed a "Radio King/Sound King transition set" - the bass drum's cymbal arms have been removed to decrease any rattling etc. The floor tom is very Bonham and very rare. It also has heads on it now unlike this picture.

The shells are 3 ply (the best) mahogany/poplar/mahogany, a trait of both radio kings and the early "sound king" era. the "sound king" element of this kit is the shape of the lugs. The story is that over at the Slingerland plant they would use up whatever parts they had available during this period. kick drum and rack tom are Chicago made ('56-'62 I believe).the whopping 20" floor tom is early-to-mid 60's based on the smaller lugs that are all chrome (not chrome over brass like the "transition" lugs on the kick and rack tom). Write me with any questions anytime. "

Whaddya think ???

I'd be scared that if I fell into that FT, I might never be found.Cooked Egg

The FT all by itself is worth about $350 or more.

Nice ol' Chicago badge 3-pc...looks pretty cherry, too....BUT... I have never heard of the "smaller lugs"-"transition lugs" thang...

wassup with that...anyone ?

What's the seller asking ?

He was asking $900. I looked at it. I wasn't convinced that the kit was factory. Looks like one tom was slipped into it.Lame

Even if it was factory....even given the 20" FT, that was a very high asking price for a 3-pc.
