I had bought (and sold) a Green Sparkle Ludwig School Festival snare a year ago or so and I so wish I still had it. How rare are these? I seen it in the '62 catalog but I have not seen it in others. The picture shows how it looked when I bought it off Craigslist. This Vintage drum thing is catchy.

I would say any green sparkle lugwig snares are hard to fine are rare.In any badge first badge in line is the one you show, next with be the K/S badge, then B/O badge...Mikey
My question is about the one pictured. The trans badge is a plus. You just don't see many with the classic double lugs, in any color.

both that snare design and that wrap are uncommon. great snare.

I had a similar drum at one time, Green Sparkle, Transition badge, 8X15", w/ a P83 strainer. . What size was yours ? Before 1960, the" School Festival" was in the catalogs as the "Festival".
Several years ago I was considering the purchase of a School Festival snare in BDP with the transitional badge. However I was advised not to get it because the 15" snares allegedly weren't as valued and collectible as their 14" counterparts. I'm still not sure about that. Regardless, it sure was a great looking drum.
Thats a cool drum. I would've had a real tough time letting that one go. You can find them now and then. Finding that color and badge combo wont be easy or cheap.

The snare drum that is depicted by the Op is a Symphonic model not a School festival, I've enclosed a pic of my School festival My favorite wood snare drum hands down.,
