How Old is a vintage drummer? Last viewed: 4 minutes ago

Me: 55 years old now.

Again owning my first STAR drumkit from 1974, after having sold it approx. 15 years ago (the buyer still had it and I bought it back from him 3 years ago). Unfortunately he didn't want to part again with 'my old' A.Zildjians which were going with the set at that time.

Collector? No (I only have 4 drumsets, all vintage).

Snare drums: 4, all vintage.

I just turned 16 last week, and I have a '63 dark blue sparkle Slingerland 4pc, along with a '71 acro. I've always loved the look and sound of vintage drums, and compared to the price of a top-of-the-line new kit, why would you go any other way?

You seem like a very bright young man. Compared to you, I'm an old geezer with a lot of good memories! Stay cool. Use your brain and talents. Do your best. Don't intentionally hurt others. Best of luck to you!

Just a drummer who loves all things about vintage drums! Nothing more, nothing less.

there's a future leader of this country, he knows what right! don't quit playing it becomes part of your soul, nice drums if only i knew then what i know now listen to the geezers around you they've been there and done it take half of what they say with a grain of salt and maybe the rest will be worth a little something to you, oh one more thing learn to read music you have to today it is not 1967 good luck

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I'm turning 54 tomorrow and have been collecting and playing vintage for 5 years. I recently sold a '67 blue sparkle club date with a key stone Acrolite to an 18 year old. I asked him, "why not a New Pearl, Tama or DW"? He could have bought a very nice "New" kit for the same money. His reply, " love the sound and look of 3-ply vintage".... nuff said.

Yes, the next generation will love and respect our beloved instruments!

From blackd

I,m 59 I have a drawing that was done of me on my "new" Ludwig super classic.this was drawn in October 1973, 2 years after I joined my first Pro band. We were on the same circuit as Sweet, Mud and Marmalade. Never had a hit record and disbanded 2 years later. But had a good time playing 6 nights a week. I used to get a lot of my gear back then at Drum City in London, even though I lived in the Midlands. This picture is a one of a kind, but it brings back so many good memories

That drawing is fantastic!

Hello! I turned 40 a few months ago.. I'm definitely a player as much as I am a collector. Just wished I was as good as a player as much as I am a collector.

I turn 33 this year.

I have a ludwig supra 1979, same age as me :)

I have some modern drumset for everyday use, but I want to tuch the sound of

1967...so Ludwig Super Classic is my target, and it's very close I can say...

Besides, I fell in love with my 60's Avedis Ride, there are no cymbals sounding like this anymore...

Cheers to All!

I am 42. I've been collecting, restoring, and playing vintage drums since 1992. Most of my drumming career has been spent playing in garage and surf bands, and I've always known people who put a premium on owning vintage gear, no matter what their age.

Mid 30s, but age is just a number...I play more than collect! I own modern drums as well though. Currently have two 60s Ludwig kits and another on the way. My favorite sounds in the world...nothing like these. My fav is my Black Oyster...hippest finish on the planet!
