I am about to purchase a 7x14 8 lug pre-war slingerland radio king 1 ply maple snare drum. The finish is a black to brown to black fade. The finish is pretty beat up. ROUHGLY how much would something like this go for?

Need to know what hardware, if any, condition of said hardware, which strainer, etc.Yes Sir
All original hardware and strainer from that time period (not sure what it is...)...condition of the shell and hardware is fair.
Can you post some detailed pictures of the drum?

lugs are not original. They look like cheap import lugs.
Clamshell strainer.Nice...and definatly worth something on its own.And yes a few of the lugs look like the basic japan imports but I can see a few origionals that look to be in bad shape ( possibly warranting new lugs ).Personally thats a good restoration piece for any buff and since everything is in order, the shell as you say is good, has the clamshell strainer system and would just need old lugs...I could see that drum going for around $200-$300.Maybe a little less, maybe a little more.Again its definatly a project since lugs from that era are hard to come by.But a good drum none the less.

That sounds like a fair price range.

Would those new import lugs effect the sound at all? or just the value?
Just the value on this drum.Lugs don't effect sound all that much. And if they do its so miniscule that you would never know.
