It's interesting - I started collecting Kents about 3 - 4 years ago. I paid between $40.00 and $60.00 for all 4 of my snares. It looks like the prices have been going up steadily for the last few years, even on the single tension snares (like this one), despite our economy.

That's a really clean drum, but it's the less desirable single tension model and it still sold for over $100.00 - Things are looking good for Kent collectors!!

When I first looked at this auction, it was only 40 bucks or so. It sold WAY over what I would have thought. Wow. I think you might be right. Kent is on its way up. Not a bad deal for you guys. I lived up near Kenmore and saw a bunch of these drums up there. Had NO idea what these were about at the time. Education is not always timely.

My gut tells me that someone overpaid. The alternative is Kent is on the rise. Either way, someone will be happy and someone will be upset. It all washes out even, don't it...Nature's Balance.

Being a collector, I've been watching most of the Kents that have been coming up on ebay for the last few years and I can say that from what I've seen, Kents are on the rise.

You still see an occasional snare or tom go for short money, but they are usually incomplete, modified, or otherwise non-original in some way.

The kits are also selling for more, especially if they have the elusive floor tom included. I myself have paid more for a floor tom than a 2 or 3 piece kit.

Odd thing is, I thought for sure that with our less than wonderful economy, the Kents, like some of the other U.S. vintage drums, would go down in price.

At least 2 people felt the drum was worth more than $75.00, right? I guess the word is out - Hope I can snag a few more kits before the prices go crazy :)
