Brass...........
There is no "B" stamp which we refer to the shells that Ludwig made that actually have the letter "B" on the outside of the shell as Kevins mentions.
This shell has a handwritten letter B. Interesting is the fact that the shell VADRUMS has also has a handwritten letter about the same spot, but from his photos I can't tell.

Cosidering that a KS COB Supra goes for $750 and they're MUCH EASIER to find than this rare Brass KS Acro I personally think that its fairly priced.I personally think that comparing a BRAND NEW Guitar center's Black Beauty with this drum its like comparing the Dunnets George Way drums with the Geroge Way Indiana era drums...IMHO...
Yes I agree.....they are both better made today... :p
Yes, the B is hand written in crayon. Any idea...a guy working in the Ludwig factory??

From that time frame...couldn't have been BIII. He would have been well past the crayon age by that time. Maybe it's from one of those "bring the kiddo to work" kinda things.

Since there were so very few in brass, could it be , as Drumbum has said, a sort of "reminder" to the builders that this one is brass.... don't put it in the "regular pile" ?
This is what I think. A guy with the first initial B wrote B in every drum he worked on??? Who knows??

Oka, I think I'm onto something that we could put in the history books. I went back and looked at my Super Sensitive 1965 and right below the keystone badge is an H. It has to be an initial of someone???Why else. In black crayon too.Walking
