Help w/Slingerland BD ID Last viewed: 1 minute ago

Hi Carl (I believe)...

I posted this on the VSD website and I'm not sure if you saw it. I'm sorry if I'm repeating myself or if you saw it already, but I'm wondering if you can help me:

>Just wondering if somone can help me identify the series, make and year of a random Slingerland bass drum I'm currently resoring. It's a 14"x24" kick that I obtained in the early 80s. I never knew what year it was from, but I'm ASSUMING the mid-70s. I have NO idea what particular series it may be either. It has the standard "M" (I'm assuming for Maple?) stamped on the inside, but to my dismay, there is no date stamped anywhere on the shell. It's a walnut-brown wood finish and is a 10-lug, 3-ply shell with reinforcement hoops with a blonde inner shell finish. It contains the standard pointed-edged T-rods with the common Slingerland claws, and it has the med-sized disappearing bass drum spurs. And unfortunately, there is NO existing badge on the drum. I know this isn't AS descriptive as it could be (and a picture would help), but anything you can help me with would be great. Thanks!

Well, pictures would be best of course. Your description is very good, but it actually could fit a particular period in the 1960s as well as one in the 1970s. For example, both 60's and 70's Slingerland T-rods could fit the description "pointed-edged T-rods" - different shape, but both types are "pointed" in their own way. The Walnut finish with M stamp happened in both the 60s and 70s.

But let's assume all parts original. Check these features. Measure the M stamp - how tall is it? And are the lug screws hex head? And if they are hex, do they each also have a screwdriver slot in them, or are they plain hex no slot?
