This is a really cool mid to late 50's Gretsch Round Badge Progressive Jazz drum set with the matching Jazz or Max Roach Snare in a rare finish called Copper Mist Nitron. This is the same type of set that the drummer for Elvis Presley, DJ Fontana bought when he and Elvis went into a music store in Houston, Texas. This particular set was and is in extremely good original condition.

:)Love the custom front kick head -
Big Daddy,
Yeah that front head is unique isn't it? I guess we could call a custom port, like somebody told me.
But thanks, it is a beautiful drum set and I am very happy I got it.

Hi Mike...do you still have that kit? I've got the same kit I've had since 1975 when I was 14 that I unfortunately painted black. I'm having them restored and I want to have them painted reproduction copper mist and I need some really good pics..close ups and such. Can you help?

Greg,
Yes I still do have the kit, just had it out last month. I have been working on my so called jazz chops (this is more of a joke, because I really can't play drums well at all, but I try). This is a more recent picture with a "new" front calf head as someone mentioned that the porting was a little extreme on the original head! Yes Sir
Greg, I will send you an email with some large file pictures of the drums for you to compare.
Amazing kit!!
