Just picked up a sweet little unmarked snare. hmmm. Wonder what it could be? No label. No tag. No markings. hmmm. I wonder.

Nice. It's too bad these never caught on, they were really onto something with this design.... especially on the bigger drums..
I almost bid on that one, but I have three new snares on the way this week and I tyhionk momma's gonna scream loud enough as it is....I think if I were to have snagged that one, she would put me in the garage, with the of the drums, and no blanky....
Those are some cool drums! Feel free to tell us how awesome it sounds once you get it ;)
Nice snag and congrats!
What is that?
Is that an enamel finish?
Probably just my old eyes.....
It`s a wild looking variation of the PEARL Bulgee snare - first introduced in 1969. I saw one copied with a Whitehall badge. I saw two chrome/steel PEARL Bulgees on Ebay over th elast 6 months- pretty rare I think. I think it was the pre-cursor to the free-floating snare concept. Cool1
I'm not familiar with Pearl's version. I will have to do some reading up on this. I'm not that well read on the MIJ's. No other reason than laziness. I love the wraps and have been a Yamaha fan for far too many years. I've only owned one Pearl kit that I've liked (that I can recall). It was the MHX series and was far and away one of the best.
Bulgee snare? Are you yanking my chain, Osakabob? That is just too strange. Peavey was the only one I've ever seen like this. The Radial Pro 1000 series is an unbelievable build. I liked the 700 series a lot ... and even the 500 series to some extent. They were some of the most original design concepts I've ever come across. I'm shocked that Pearl was doing something like this so many years ago. Please post a pic or two if you have one. I would love to see the geneses of this drum design. As always, I appreciate your wealth of MIJ brain juice.
Here is the catalog shot and description from it`s introductory year 1969 Pearl catalog. I plan on picking an original up one day.singer

I would of bet that was a Peavey....How can there be so much "new" stuff from so long ago?..Makes you wonder what else will surface!Mind Blowi
