Giving Up! Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Well, I'm close to giving up on the memorabilia... I can still find some items here and there, but after watching this item and the final price.....Hurting

Leedy Catalog

As far as I know this is an all time record for a catalog and have never seen a catalog go this high... You could pick up a really nice mint set of drums for this price...

Items like this will drive up the value on catalogs... crying2-07

Sorry for whining like a..baby crawl2

Sorry for the smiley's just added them and I was trying to brighten up my day!

I can understand your dismay.

That's just plain stupid.

In the past I have found some pretty nice literature when buying things in lots. I look for listings that say "big lot of drummers music/instruction books" or whatever. When they say "60 items, too numerous to list" I bid $20.00-$40.00 and hope for the best. I haven't received anything like that Leedy Catalogue, but I have received some really nice sixties catalogues tucked in with the instruction books. I love the earlier instruction books and have some that are pretty collectable. I especially like The Sam Ulano books and records. Some are pretty funnny "how to" books or records. How to play Rock and roll drums, Latin, Bongo instructions etc. How to be ready to handle Weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, Polka, etc. Some stuff from Sam Ulano and Haskell Harr is so old it's hand written or typed and printed on a mimeograph (sp?) machine. Anyway, don't give up. You'll luck into some of these treasures when you least expect it.

WOW!! Yeah I'm very, very new to this vintage drum market .... but parts and memorabilia seem to be pretty far out of sight price-wise. I guess I just have to be patient. Trying to find an old l-arm, old badge, or some obscure old bracket seems to mean you give up a kidney for it.

I've have now drawn my Ebay line in the sand... I'm bidding way early at the price I'm willing to pay and just not looking until deal is done.

As for ebay, Ill bid early, and low. It puts my name in. I wont bid high untill the end. Ive found that if you bid high to start, people who have no intention of actually winning will noodle you right up the flag pole.

I sympathize Ploughman. I'm giving up on Rogers parts. Are they memorabilia? Probably qualify. In some strange but certain karma; the USA drum company with the worst business plan ends up being the most collectible.

I may surf for DeLorean's next . . .

May have been the worst business plan but they were still the best drums ever made from 1960 to 1970 those ten years were awesome ..

Rogers history is certainly facinating.. I highly recommend picking up The Rogers Book if you haven't already. Interesting Rogers in their heyday didn't make their own shells.. it was all about the bearing edge cut.

I wish some screen writer would do a script on the American Drum Wars of the 50's, 60's and 70's. I suppose it would only have a tiny cult following.

BUT... What a sound track.. and trip through musical history.

That movie about the Ol'Tucker automobile did alright.
