MIJ kits can add up because they cost so little,so you end up with a room full of drums that aren,t worth much,therefore you cant sell them and make money,and you can only play one kit at a time,which is usually the favorite 1 or 2 kits,so now you realize you cant move in your home because of all these cheap drums in your way...but they sound great btw,SOOOOO..Now what?? I gave away 2 kits today to a church and a youth prison [long story] and guess what...I feel great!!!..So unless you,re playing that stash of cheap,wonderful drums,and you,re getting sick of tripping over them,stubbing your toes,losing the cat in the bass drums,getting sick of the cheap mahogany smell,or just plain sick of looking at them every day for some reason,because you know there is a limitless supply of this cheap crap that will never exhaust itself......I say...DONATE these imposters of real drums to someone who really needs them....it will make you feel GREAT!!!Coffee Break2

I wish I'd met you when I was a kid. We were so poor that having a drum in Chile back in the 70's was like having a boat!

I had my first set when I was 30! There was no credit or credit cards...And there was only Ludwig and Slingerlands that used to cost two arms and two legs!

At least you guys could always go for the cheap MIJs. We didnt have that luxury!

I have given a couple MIJ kits, and a vintage Rogers orphan kit, away to worthy people. It is a good feeling to put a quality vintage set in the right hands. Kudos for you.

Clapping Happy2 VeryCool1 It does feel amazing to see the light, the sparkle in the eyes, doesn't it? I hope you were able to put together a cheap set of hardware? Like really low end, funtional stuff that at least gets them some semblence of a full kit? Try, if you can for the boys' school at least, to get some help on your local C/L for a set of cheapie hats, snare stand, you know, and maybe a ride or larger crach/ride. Having the drums is one thing, but being able to teach them using the correct instruments all together makes all the difference. Post over this weekend for "Help from the Local Drum Community". I am finding it is not as hard as you might think, when you explain exactly, in full detail, what you are doing. Drummers tend to help out when told to do so, by another drummer....I mean ASKED to do so....D' Drummer
