This is way cool. I just watched this show on Palladia the other night and the whole show was good. I have a buddy who played bass for a band in San Antonio a good while ago and he got to jam with these guys at some show or whatever he was doing. He said they were cool guys though and laid back to the max.

I love Led Zeppelin and I love Dave Grohl...the two just don't mix. Dave is way too much of a basher and those drums sound like ass. As much as everyone doesn't like Jason Bonham, he does a much better job imo.
I don't know...Taylor Hawkins has a good voice on his solo stuff and on the Foo's stuff he sings on, but I can't stand him singing this song. Something is just off here. I love the Foos and I consider Dave Grohl to be one of my all time favorite drummers (Taylor, too), but this just doesn't click. My favorite Foo/Zep mashup is Them Crooked Vultures. That album is wicked (to me, anyway.)

Sorry but luddy guy's, I'm gonna have to disagree, Grohl is a great john henry aficionado, and has some of his licks down to a tee! I though tyler did an awesome plant imitation!! but my opinion is no more valid that both of yours!!
why did i not know about this happening..
are you guys kidding?
half the reason Dave became a drummer was because of John Bonham.
when Zep was planing their reunion tour he begged and pleaded to be able to play drums..but obviously with Jason being there he could not.
i think Dave is a perfect fit to take up John Bonham's throne.
since you guys are hip to Them Crooked Vultures then i'm sure you've listened to Queens of the Stone Age..specifically "Songs For the Deaf" and even more specific the song "Song for the Deaf" how can you not completely and utterly hear Bonham's influence on Grohl?
and sorry if Taylor Hawkins can't pull off being as much of a total chick as Robert Plant was ;)
just my :2Cents: of course..
thanks for posting this video Mark.
i really enjoyed it! x-mas3

I'm completely aware of his love of bonham (he has the tattoo and everything) and that he was his main influence but this performance doesn't show it :(...I think some of the stuff he played on the first and second foo albums were some of the heaviest drum parts of all time and are indeed bonham influenced but to me in this video, he lacks "feel" and certainly doesn't capture the "spirit" of bonzo, if you will...But that's just my opinion :)
What a horrible situation to be in for Dave Grohl. "Filling in" for John Bonham has zero upside and the best that could possibly be hoped for are mediocre reviews where his playing was passable and sounded close enough to the original to warrant his efforts. The same could be said for any household name's replacement in any chosen endeavor. I guess it is probably a good thing that he isn't trying to be the original, probably doesn't give much of a crapola about criticism from peers, fans or industry buzz and is just absolutely savoring the moment to jam with some real legendary axe men. The look of wow on his face is impossible to fabricate.
I will be totally honest here, Led Zeppelin is played out to me. I have heard them sooo freaking much on the radio (WDVE plays them about once an hour) over the years that I am pretty sick of them. Add Aerosmith, Steve Miller Band and Jethro Tull to that list too. I look at any opportunity to see a fresh take on these overplayed band's material as refreshing.
