floor tom mounts with springs Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Hi All,

I have a set of three floor tom legs with mounts that look like they are Slingerland. Inside each mount is an L-shaped piece of metal with a hole in the top side. The leg enters the mount through the bottom hole, then goes through a spring and then through the hole in the L-bar and then is supposed to go out the top of the mount. Except in this case, the leg goes as far as barely peeking through the hole in the L bar and won't move out through the top hole of the mount.

One side of the mount has an oval shaped hole in it and the L-bar inside has a little threaded hole that lines up. Will any thumbscrew do for that hole?

How hard should it be to move the legs up and down, with or without a thumbscrew in place? These legs ain't moving a bit.

Thanks,

David

Well, first make sure that without the spring mechanism the legs you have smoothly glide through the holes in the shell mount. You may or may not have the original legs, and the diameter is important. Also, check to see if the legs may be slightly bent. Once you are certain the legs are good, they should move through in concert with the pushbutton assembly without difficulty. Of course for proper function you do need the right pushbuttons. Jim Petty has what you need:

Just click on "Parts" and find the Slingerland stuff.
