First Double Bass Pedal Ever? Last viewed: 0 seconds ago

So how about the Rose-Morris "Power Drive"?All three seem to be early 70's vintage.I remember seeing ad's for the Zalmer in my grandfather's musician's union newspaper,70's vintage.Everything said,I'd call the Camco/DW the first mass-produced PRACTICAL double pedal.I own a slave-side(L)Zalmer if anyone needs one.....

Yes, the DW might have been the first "practical" one, but it sucked. I actually had to special-order it in the late 80's/early 90's. I played one gig with it and brought it right back. Unusable. Strangely enough, I still have the single 5000's and they still are workhorses. The Yamaha DFP750 double pedal, which I also still have and also works well, was miles better than the DW. DW came a long way and improved their double pedals exponentially.

Anyone got a pic of this early DW pedal or the Pearl or the Rose-Morris?

Jonni I am right there with you on corporate slobs. I am in Madison WI and down at the Capitol building as much as possible bangin on drums in support of workers rights. These creeps will stop at nothing to maximize profits at the expense of hard working Americans.

I can't help but feel like this is another situation where the real innovator got the shaft in terms of receiving his fair due on an invention. Get it? The shaft? Thats a bass drum pedal joke!

OK,..Final correction,...it is seen in another photo of a 1920`s bass drum hi-hit combo,...so it very well could be pre WWI !! (1916-1918)

WOAH!!

Thats awesome!

Id love to see something that looks like the modern double pedal though. Just curious. Who first has it in a catalogue and how did they market it in the 70's or 80's?

This is a very interesting topic to me....and Im not even a double bass player!

There are people with catalogues that no-one else has,..it would take clear heads , but it could be narrowed down !!
