Fibes chrome Jazz kit Last viewed: 12 hours ago

About three years ago I asked the forum about this kit that I had an opportunity to purchase. You all said to go for it, and I did. Thanks for the info, these drums are great.

I bought these from the original owner. He was a jazz drummer/teacher all his life. His teacher was Allen Dawson at Berkley school of music in Boston. The guy took great care of this kit. I still have the vinyl zipper cases he used. Some of the original heads are still on the drums! They sound and look great.

Congratulations! Those look great! When you say "jazz" kit, do you mean a 12/14/18 configuration?

That's a rare and special set. In over fifteen years of collecting vintage drums, I've never seen a photos of a Fibes jazz size set with that (I think) Meazzi set o matic tom holder, other than the catalogs. I'm guessing that mount came out before the simple hex rod w/ ball that you normally see.

Years ago I used to see Victor Lewis play drums for Woody Shaw, and he played a Fibes set like yours and it sounded great. (Of course a lot of it had to do with his great playing!)

Yes, 12/14/18. I was looking for a small set, and thought I would have to give up some power. But they can sound like cannon if you need them to!
