Factory (?) Slingerland 80N - doubts Last viewed: 58 minutes ago

Not that I would cast dispersions upon this beautiful kit ... but ... I scoped this one out and have a real hard time buying the description that this is factory. That paint goes into and over the bearing edges. That's odd. Also, the paint is applied with a not-so-professional appearance. It is an incredibly uneven application. My wife was noting the brush strokes and a fingerprint. I enlarged it and sure enough, there it was. Unreal. If it did come from the factory, I believe I would have taken it back. This is an amateur job at best (whether it's an amateur at the factory or an amateur in someone's living room).

Last Call. Up for auction is a gorgeous early 70's Slingerland 80N. Locked in a closet for 20 years this kit sounds great and looks fantastic. No plastic wrap to shrink, fade or replace, the semi transparent red lacquer finish is as beautiful today as it was almost 40 years ago when new. Beautiful Violin Red on Maple wood grain with contrasting gleaming chrome makes this fine instrument like fine furniture. All original drum hardware very good to excellent. Minor pitting and minor corrossion on cymbal stands but both over all very good. Snare stand has rust on one of the cross members. This one owner kit is a fabulous example of the ledgendary Slingerland 80N and worthy of the endorsment and talent of the Great Master Buddy Rich. Snare and cymbals not included.

Two months ago I saw a Slingerland concert tom set-12/13/16/22 that was this exact color, and stained on the inside. It was at Daddy's Junky Music in Salem,N.H.Very poor staining job, too.Couldn't sell it for $250.Seems like they just didn't care .

You know, as a player, from a distance he's right. But upclose it looks lousy. And for 1200, it is a bit way too steep. I'll bet they sound wonderful..Because the sound waves don't care how they look....but the point of this is to say "eeh-gads!"

If you also look at the sellers last bought items, they include a 16" sticksaver hoop for Slingerland and some rubber tips for stands....

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....
