Ebay/Craigslist rant....appology in advance Last viewed: 4 minutes ago

C-List HAS gone down the C-rapper lately. I've been trying to downsize some gear lately. Nobody's buying--even when you sell for much less than it's worth used. It used to be (maybe a year and a half ago) that you could sell your quality stuff for about half of what it sells for new, or your older, quality instruments for about 3/4 of what they go for on eBay. Nowadays, it seems that more and more people are becoming C-List vultures, looking for amazing deals, and then turning them around and re-listing them for 3 times what they paid for them. The only things that are selling are the items that are selling for super-cheap. Not even the beginner sets are selling well. $200 for a student kit with a B8 cymbal pack used to be about the right selling price. Now, they're having trouble selling for more than $100, and when they do sell for that much, you see them a week later (same kit, not even cleaned or having their heads replaced) being sold for $300+ with some story about how it's been sitting in their spare room for years.

People are getting desperate to sell gear to make ends meet, they keep posting it over and over again to get noticed, then they get flagged and have to post it again...it's tough times for a lot of people, and the C-List "gestapo" certainly aren't making it any easier. I do appreciate it when they "call out" someone who's selling a Pearl Export with ZBT cymbals for $2,700 (yes, it actually happened recently). It's amusing, to say the least...

I did a search of eBay tonight for vintage drums - I was amazed at some of the low prices I saw. Several american vintage kits from the big 3 were listed at VERY low prices, with little to no bidding activity.

On another note... a Kent 3 piece with a few extra's sold for $197.00 - Which I find amazing. They were ALL single tension drums (student model) with a couple of terrible looking cymbals included. The wrap was a more rare color, but still...

It's crazy out there right now. I might actually be able to buy a Name Brand kit finally!!
