Ebay purchase.... I'm so disappointed Last viewed: 53 minutes ago

I bought this kit on eBay and it's not at all like he described.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150416797516&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

The bass drum hoops are metal. Rogers didn't put metal hoops on their base drums in the 70's did they?

And all the rims on the toms are different. Some have real round edges and some are real square. The floor tom had 4 different size tension rods.

He said it was a re-wrap and the wrap seems nice but they didn't fill the holes so you can "see" them from the outside.

He said the hardware was a 10 but there's ton of scratches and even some rust spots here and there.

I was disappointed, to say the least.

The packaging job was terrible with the rack tom put inside the floor tom with nothing around the rack tom except 1 thin layer of bubble wrap. Then, both of them put inside the kick drum right on top of the head. When will people ever learn the importance of proper packaging.

I'm an extra reasonable guy and I was willing to overlook all this (although, in his auction he says all the hardware is original and nothing was) until I found the giant break in the wrap on the kick drum.

For me, this kit is junk, now. I know I'm over-reacting a little but I really don't even want it now. I emailed the seller and told him. I'm waiting to hear back.

So, I guess I should loose the $65 it will cost me to ship it back? Hopefully, he won't think I should pay shipping both ways. After all, he did mis-represent the set.

I buy and sell a lot of stuff on eBay and most of it goes A-OK. I guess you can't win every time.

You guys think I'm being unreasonable? I don't want to ask for a credit and sound like an eBay extortionist even though anything is better than shipping it back. Still, I don't think it's worth 400 bucks the way it is. I paid 600.

I'm so disappointed.

I would say you have a break on the inside of the shell .........where your bd wrap is cracked, and that is due to bad packaging and the package being dropped.

You arent being unreasonable. I hope you were insured. Because that is where hes going to go with this.

Yep, you're exactly right. Upon close inspection, there are two small holes in the shell where the floor tom leg mounts broke right though the shell and busted the wrap.

Totally due to poor packaging. Nothing but a single layer of bubble wrap between the floor tom leg bracket and the kick drum shell.

What a moron. Makes you wonder how these people make it through life with no common sense.

Thanks for the support.

File a damage claim with the shipping company and also file a claim with paypal, for both damage AND SIGNIFICANTLY NOT as described. Being the buyer, and the way paypal is set up now, you should win with zero problems.

Oh! And don't forget to leave NEGATIVE feedback before the claim is closed.

Just so you know, if it was shipped UPS and you wish to file a claim. You must have all the original packing that the drum was put in. I'm in the middle of a claim with them, and it's been 2 weeks already. They are very particular if it's not packaged properly..

so sorry to hear this.

I do recommend you to give him negative feedback.

I'm also irritated by reading this. What a terrible seller with 100% positive!

How does he react about this? Is he willing to pay money back? ignore?

Hopefully, your shipping will be covered too.

I would push for that.... $65 is a pretty good hit to have to cover.

Good luck !!

I heard back from him already. That's good.

He offered a $300 credit. That's an awful lot. I hate to sound greedy but I guess this kit would be worth $300 even as it is.

So, I told him I would rather return it but if he wanted to credit me $300 I would let it end there.

Now, he got back to me and he is back-peddling. I'll see what he says and I'll try to be fair.

I almost never (in fact, I don't think ever) leave bad feedback. I always try to work it out. As long as the person is responsive, I try to work it out.

I even bought a mixer once and the guy never shipped it and wouldn't answer emails. I filed a claim with Paypal and when he was non-responsive they gave me a credit no problem.

I didn't even leave bad feedback for him. LOL I found out later that his house burned down and (naturally) his computer was destroyed (as well as his life, temporarily) and he got back to me later with an apology. At that point, I was glad i didn't leave bad feedback.

As long as I don't feel like I am being cheated on purpose, I'm pretty easy.

We'll see what happens here.

Thanks again for the support. In times like this, one needs a place to rant. :)

That sux, because the guy that re-wrapped those drums is one of our very own, and he does amazing work. I'l bet you hang around a minute he'll see this and tell you every detail about the drums. Too bad, because he will know what every little thing is, and I'll bet he left the holes intentionally, not as an oversight, or because he doesn't know better, but because they arfe Rogers. If they were some MIJ, or anything non-desirable, he would have filled them. I'll bet he left them so the original hardware could be reinstalled later.

I should say the claim made of Jaye having done the work, not that he actually did, as he should be the one to tell the story, if he in fact ever touched these.
