Bass drums are expensive to ship so I think you did pretty good. The really good deals spoil us as collectors, every time we get one we start looking for an even better deal. That becomes part of the fun as well. I think sometimes we just have to pony up for something we want and forget about scoring the sweet deal part.

Looks like a great drum! Obviously if they wanted to mount the cymbal on the very top, Ludwig probably wouldn't have changed it's "direct center" mounting of the badge and vent to somewhere other than center. Looks sweet and factory. In fact, I believe there is a picture of William Ludwig I playing a bass drum like this in the factory shop with the cymbal mount directly on top.
