I totally agree with the drum sound. You guys are right on. I was actually more impressed with Henley's playing with his earlier bands like ShiLo and some country stuff. What's up with Mr. Purdie.....is that story true?:o

No...no truth at all...like John said,I was just messing with him.

Given his forum name,I couldn't resist.

It's just relates to the stories Purdie tells of replacing Ringo in the studio on early Beatle albums.

The man is no doubt, one of the best to ever pick up a pair of sticks,....but....

I had read some of those stories. Yup. Purdie is a serious blowhard. The mouth can trump any talent when one is allowed to overshadow the other to that degree. Shame, that. Made him look a fright to serious musicians to the point of being the butt of jokes galore. But, respect to the elder, no matter how big the ego. Some grandma probably said that.

Not a huge fan of the eagles. A bit dirty.

All great points.......I think we can all agree fans or not, that The Eagles strength was in their vocal/harmonies and songwriting.......everything else is totally up for debate.flowers2

There are some interesting/funny parts in that Doc (History of Eagles) like when they're recording with Glyn Johns and they quote him as saying "You're not a rock band!, the Who - That's a rock band!"

and when Don Henley says he wanted more bass drum in the mix and Johns responds " then hit it harder!"

He was used to recording drummers like Moon and Bonham!

Still wondering if anyone noticed that he played the same drums for almost the entire doc.
