Deal Or No Deal Last viewed: 10 hours ago

I've passed up so many deals in the last couple months but I'm thinking about this one.

LUDWIG WMP, Transition snare, Early 64 set. What would you pay? Missing a couple parts but what would you pay?

Original tom mount? Extra holes?

Deal or no deal questions are very subjective. Myself, my interest is in drums with original equipment, such as spurs, mounts, rims, Ts and claws, but not so much the tension rods. That would be a plus, but not necessarily a deal breaker.

Every person interested in owning vintage, either to play or to collect, have varying criteria to justify the deal.

For me, extra holes would be a deal breaker, replacement parts, if it amounts to a significant part of the set, or greatly alters the original .... are deal breakers.

I would have to jump. This looks like a really sweet deal. What is the price on it? ... or is that what you are asking? Is there a price listed?

The guy knows what he has. What should I offer.

You're basically looking at the shell pack. The snare drum is not "with" the set (obviously) and the other snare (the Pearl) is just there for fluff.

WMP 1964 Super Classic shell pack in very good condition....probably worth a grand. Missing bass drum mounted cymbal arm (?) Deduct $100.00 for that. Offer $700 -or less. See what he says. Be willing to flex depending on how much you love the drums. If they are the ones you've been waiting for, then that's the general range I would be considering if I were you.Burger Kin Keep in mind, this is based upon limited photos and your description. If it was me buying, then I would have to see more.

Do all the drums have red felt on the baseball bat mufflers ("tone controls")?

Not from that angle. But, like I say, if it was me in the market for that kit, I would need to see all sides of the drums including the insides.

I am putting 2 + 2 together to realize that these are the drums you are asking about red felt mufflers. That suggests, to me, that someone had the balls to take them off the drums. And maybe if they would do that, they might also have done other things to the drums. Right or wrong, I would want to see for myself.

The red felt tone controls can go for a LOT of money some times because they are MUCH rarer than the white felt ones. If you need three, you might be looking at $300.00 to replace them. NOW how much is that WMP Super Classic worth to you? See what I mean? it gets dicey when you have to consider replacement part costs and the time and headache involved in hunting some of them out! It could be a better idea to wait and watch for a really nice complete WMP set that's been well-maintained and kept original. Yes, you'll pay more money, ultimately, but likely not as much as you would pay for many new drum sets. It's a buyer's market right now and lots of nice complete sets are showing up for very reasonable prices. it's up to you. man.Chewie:

Oh, and replacement vintage T-rods and claws can be pricey, as well. I'm always waaaaaaarrrrry of bass drums that have had the front head off long enough for the T-rods and claws to have gone missing!

It really depends on what kind of money the guy wants. He may think he has something better than he really does. But the more parts there are to replace, the lower the price goes down. that's my policy.

Looks like a nice set. The fading wouldn't bother me, though the floor tom fade doesn't look the same as the other drums in the pic. Get 'em set up and ready to roll! Switch the woody out for that super sensitive and you'll have a great range!

Where do you live that you come across all these wicked deals?!?
