Can anyone elaborate, history wise on this set. I think it's the modern combo from the catalogs. looks pretty clean. Not a big fan of single heads.

And let's not forget, they are EXTREMELY rare, because they have Slingerland heads and have been sitting in a room for 25 years and don't have bottom heads...I thought most drums sit in a room for a long time...no? Anybody dreaming of this kit? I mean the guy said collectors dream of it.....Yes Sir

The black and silver badges started in early 1970 with the serial numbers starting over.... so a 250xxx serial number would be around 1976 or so.... according to the good Doctor's serial number graph in the Drum Guide.
It's configured with New Rock or Modern Solo sizes from '76, but with concert toms..... so, I dunno
The Modern Combo had an 18 inch bass drum with 10 and 13 inch toms, so that might be a bit of a stretch......
Closest thing , I think, is a '77 Pop Rock Outfit with a double headed bass instead of a single.
My head hurts.......DOH.....Coffee Break2
that's a good price for the kit,, then I have extremely rare drums heads, because they have slingerland written on them and they are in the boxes? has he been on ebay like lately!
In the 1976 s/l catalog list this set as a "pop outfit" 58N--the set had a 14x22 bass,8x12--9x13 mounted toms--14x16 floor tom all drums were single headed..was listed as this name from 1976-78..Than in 1979 change the name to the "on tour" set 658T,s/l stop makeing them in 1980---So to me they[[seller] added the bass drum to this set.s/l never made a set of these with a double head bass drum...Mikey
I think that's a late 60's kit. You could add the 22 BD for at an additional $$. Rack holder matches the 68 era set-o-matic. Too bad no s/l snare.

Wrong badge for the late sixties... black and silver didn't come around until 1970, and the serial numbers were re-set from the black and brass badges.
