I couldn't resist....

"OK, is this a joke? These are NOT Slingerland drums. They are from the late 60s, maybe early 70s, the shells anyway. The wrap, and the hardware are new, reproduction from a drum builder website. I collect and restore drums, and just that you can cover and protect yourself, the customre that is listing them with you is A)not the smartest person on the planet, or B) more likely, Lying and hoping you nor anyone else know it. People that buy this type of drum set, and there are many of us, are actually getting a good laugh out of this. Yes, we have a forum, and this listing is top news right now. So, if you don't want to suffer having to refund for SNAD, I suggest you do a very thorough investigation of what real vintage Slingerlands look like, inside and out, and you will find these are more than likely from what are called "stencil" drums of the 60s and 70s. They are 9 ply, cheap Phillipine mahogany. Slingerlands from this period would be a thin 3 ply, with maple interiors. Sorry."

BTW, nice touch on the muffler knob....

Yeah...the ad says that only the ONE tom is a Slingerland (I mean, c'mon, it KINDA looks like there is a 1/4" reinforcing ring there...), and the other ones are Keller maple shells! They look to me like cheap import shells, personally, but maybe Keller has started making lauan shells and labeling them as maple and we didn't realize...

Those are not Keller shells. Those are heavy Phillipine Mahog, I have seen too many. Looks like they have been sanded and tung oiled or lacquered. And I did see the one that looks like it has a ring in it, but I'd bet it is a 3 ply MIJ shell as well.

I sometimes forget that sarcasm doesn't translate well over the internet.

Yeah, it's totally NOT a Slingerland shell, unless they ever made reinforcing rings that thin. *snicker*

Man, what is this person THINKING?!?!?

He emailed me back and got real $hitty with me, so I informed him is more than welcome to come here and post pictures to see if the rest of the world's expert collectors and restorers would agree or disagree with me that he is being scammed. I haven't heard back...And yeah, I didn't catch the sarcasm...sorry. He operates one of those feebay stores where you drop off your stuff and not only does feebay get a small cut, but they rip your face off in fees...so if he sells them, he will be hit with a SNAD and get screwed on the back-end, so it is in his best interest to investigate a little more.
