Canister Drum Thrones Last viewed: 2 hours ago
each one goes with a matching Rogers drum set. Now -where is that purple one? Anyone?
I've never seen a canister throne up close - only in photos. Was there a standard height that all the manufacturers used? Or did the manufacturers have their own particular height? Just curious - I'm not looking for one. But if I was, I'd need Ludwig Champagne Sparkle at 24" tall.
Regards, mb
the Rogers ones are 24" tall.
Thanks for the quick reply. Maybe I should look for one?....mb
12" diameter x 24" height seems to be the standard canister throne dimensions for Rogers, Slingerland, Gretsch, Ludwig, and other drum makers including the knock-off companies. I remember seeing a listing in a drum catalog--probably Slingerland--for a shorter model. Some canister thrones did not have a hinged or removable seat on top. The seat was fixed in place and the bottom was open--just a hollow tube with a padded seat on top. DW used to sell a wider throne that was adjustable in height. It was also available with it's own two--wheeled dolly.
Thanks for all that info, leedybdp. Very interesting.
Looking at ebay, there are a couple later-production canister thrones listed, but they are far more money than I'm willing to pay. Still, I'll keep my "save this search" active (for my at-home rehearsal kit).
I don't need another big heavy item to pile into the car and drag to/from gigs. The only DW product I have is a light-weight, yet very stable and very comfortable throne. I carry it in my wheeled "Ahead" brand carry bag with all the other hardware.

Be sure to look under misspelling of cannister throne and also for barrel throne or drum seat or drum stool.
Thanks again! Mb
