Back in the 70's my 18" Zild developed a crack around the bell. I brought it to the store I was taking lessons at back then 71-72 timeframe. Not sure if they did it there or sent it out but it was brazed then finished. By finished I mean it seemed to be re grooved/spun in that area. It had a tighter sound but seemed to loosen up after a year or so of playing. I kept the cymbal until I sold the kit some ten years later. Never cracked further and it's primary use was always as a crash. It was a good fix in my case.
