I was! I stripped off the stock gray paint, got the shell polished...then added a P-86 strainer, tube lugs and single-flange COB hoops...and of course, she sounds just as sweet as she looks!

Great looking drum brother! I've got an 80's acrolite shell lying around here collecting dust.... i won't copy, but you definetely gave me an idea to go by for sure!

Go for it, Fellas! I got my idea from another VDF member...I think it was Purdie Shuffle...although he stripped and polished a Supra shell...which is the same thing, just with 10 lugs instead of 8. I also thought about plating it with black nickel after the polish, but just stopped while I was ahead.

Hey EMD,

Where did you happen to take the shell to get stripped and polished. I am local to you, so I'd like to know the actual place. You can PM me if you want. Thanks.

Hey Greg...I went to La Habra Plating...it's like 2 minutes from my house here in La Habra. They charge $55/hour and that's exactly what it cost me...$55. I only got the outside polished, though. Turn around time was about a week. Here's the website: http://www.lahabraplating.com/

that looks fantastic. the drums are amazing sounding. i think many dont run to them because they are tons of them out there and they can look kinda plain like you mentioned. i love what you id with it.

that seems like a great price for what they did. its a lot of work to do by hand.

well done. any plans for a badge? i think the b.o badge back on it would deter from what youve done. maybe a keystone reproduction. being a reproduction, it wouldnt look like you were trying to fake anything. love it!
