Bass Drum Mallets Question Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Would these large mallets be used with a parade marching bass drum? They came with a set of Luddys and i can`t see any use for them on a kit.Advice appreciated guys and thanks.

Yes, or possibly for Scottish parade bass drum. In concert band we always played with one mallet while holding the other palm of our hand on the other bass drum side to muffle it a little. Those are really nice mallets.

Indeed, but there are also occasions in orchestral playing where one would use two mallets on on side of the bass drum. That is why they were generally suspended in an articulating stand.
