Should this badge be on this drum?

I got the badge from our Drum Guide, that's why it won't enlarge.

Exactly.... it's on DuhBay right now.

It's almost a blatant misrepresentation in the description.

Also, reading down after the description, the seller says:

"LOCAL BIDDERS MUST NOTIFY US BEFORE STOPPING IN TO PREVIEW ITEMS"

I wonder why?..........

I wrote the guy and let him know. I caught this one too. I also let him know that we are watching for his correction or his pulled auction.

Its either an old slingerland drum that someone threw a cheap top hoop and an old Ludwig badge on or it IS a ludwig drum but with slingerland lugs on it. Interesting throw off though....seems like a p-83/piccolo hybrid......also non-original.......some peoples children......DOH

One final point....I don't EVER recall Ludwig TACKING a badge on like Gretsch did, but I could be wrong......any old timer experts want to chine in?

Seller ebay response:

this drum was found in a local estate during a cleanout , we have not doctored it in any way , has a brass nameplate that appears original ,sold as is

I didn't respond. Spumco original.

Mcjnic, at least they posted your correspondence.......

Question & Answer Answered On

Q: This is NOT a Ludwig drum. It's an Asian import copy of a Slingerland. You need to either pull this auction or correct the write-up. Many individuals in a Drum Forum on old drums are watching this one and waiting for your correction. Thanks. Jun-01-09

Just in time too, I was about to call up a few of my little friends
