Anyone here interested in hearing what a 22" pre-trans sound like? Last viewed: 0 seconds ago

Thank you so much for providing the sound file!

For me this rates as a very strong "Meh". It sounds cool and I know it's very rare, but just because it's rare doesn't mean it sounds great. I've heard many, many ride cymbals that I like way better than this one.

Just my 2.7 cents (inflation adjusted).

Ol try to take a sound file and share it it’s hard to upload a videos

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

We need a trademark photo more than a sound file. Without proof of that cymbal's vintage, a soundfile means nothing.

When you get a photo, send it to me and I'll upload it.

I have one bought off mountain hick while back , it’s my go to ride

Sounds like you are claiming a 22" pre trans stamp ride cymbal.

And jaghog, please remember the diameter is in question as well. #2 priority. It is the 22" diameter of the cymbal which is unusual for a pre trans. Telling us the diameter doesn't even require photo attaching, nor do you need a video. You just tell us 22 or 20 or whatever the diameter is.

Here is the current distribution of diameters for pre trans stamp era cymbals based on 101 I've recorded (this is counting pairs as 2 cymbals)

diam count

08 x

10 xx

11 xxxxxxxxxxxxx

12 xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

13 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

14 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

15 xxxxxxxxxxxx

16 xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

17 x

18 xxxxxx

19

20 xx

21

22 x

which is why larger ones are of interest. If you compare the pre trans diameter distribution to later production eras there is a clear deficit of larger diameters (over 18").

So if you have a 22" pre trans that's very big news. If you have a 20" pre trans that's big news. Anything 18" or smaller stops being headline grabbing, but is still of interest.

So let's see that trademark stamp please. And the diameter.

The hulabbalo over this is quite understandable seeing as how an Avedis of this vintage and of this size is just about rare as the Cullinan diamond.

I originally figured that the chances were extremely slim of this being claim being true, which is now confirmed. And I say this not as anything against you personally. Therefore no apologies are necessary. I merely based my opinion on the general assumption that a surprising number of the members here would likely not be able to identify this trademark if was presented to them anyway. But thanks for checking for us. Inquiring minds are now satisfied.

Yes, and there's 23" and 26" too.

Thank you for that scan. Somewhere, in an attic or a basement, one of those is waiting to be dusted off.
