70s Ludwig Yellow Vistalite Set Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

Here's the story I get, although I haven't laid eyes on the drums to verify any of this: 1976 Ludwig Vistalite kit in yellow, 12-13-16-22. Normal wear, scuffs, with two main issues: 13" has a repaired crack at the seam and all three toms are missing bottom rims and rods.

$400-500? Or is that a little low?

Currently playing for loud rock and roll gigs:
1982 Ludwig Classic in white Cortex, 24-13-14-18 + Coliseum snare
For quieter gigs:
Early '70s Whitehall Tiger Eye Pearl 20-12-14-14
Neglected but thinking about:
Early '70s Sonor Champions in Rosewood, 22-12-13-16

Just to clarify--they're not concert toms. The drums have lugs for the bottoms but are missing the rims and rods.

Any help would be welcome--I need to make an offer on these drums fairly soon. Thanks, all.

Get them down to 350.00 you'll be good! that way if the crack is unrepairable you could spend the cash for a replacement 13" tom!

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

Apparently the crack has already been repaired. The guy started out asking $1,000. I think we're down to the $500 range now.

I say that is a pretty decent price!

I had a set of green vistas which were considered the rarest of the solid colors, but I still think yellow is harder to find.

Finding a matching snare might prove to be difficult.

Also remember there are fakes out there.

So my final say, is the patterns are the rarest vistas, then green/yellow - amber (Usually more money because of Bonham) - red - then the most common - white, black, clear, blue.

Thanks to all for the advice. I should get to see the kit this weekend. Will post pix if I wind up with 'em.

Met the guy, checked the drums out, brought 'em home with me. Now begins the long series of questions on the main board about cleaning them and getting them put together properly. Thanks for everyone's help.
