70's Gretsch kit Last viewed: 52 minutes ago

This is for sale locally where I live. Seller claims it's 1970's, states the cymbals are 'Paiste flat 18 zilijan ride 17 and C-2 Paiste less than formula 602'

Asking price for all this is $3000

Well...that is some niiice stuff there.

Yes, a '70's kit including snare....so a 5-pc. In good shape, that'd be worth about $1000-1300. Unfortunately, the bass drum needs refinishing. So subtract $200.

The cymbals....those Avedis Zildjians look old, likely 50's or older. Despite the keyhole, those could be very nice old A's. For the A's = $350.

A Flat Paiste ride and a pair of hats...C-2, excuse me...I don't understand what you mean ? Are they 602's or not ? Paiste never had a cymbal line called 'C-2'.....

...if those Paistes are all 602's, then = $500+

If they aren't...then maybe about $300.

So, no...seller is asking a good $700-1000 too much for that kit, especially in today's market. It shouldn't bring more than $2000-2200 tops....even with the bass pedal (!).

I have no idea what he means by that description of the cymbals. I'm translating from Swedish, and he's an old dude who doesn't seem to make much sense :)

Thanks for the info. I'll keep an eye on it and see if he drops the price.

...or contact him and make an offer.....he will likely never get his asking price for them....although I understand that, in Europe, Gretschs may fetch a bit more money than here....

....the Paistes don't look like cheap ones, by the way. They look to be good ones....just there's no such thing as a C-2.....but the old flat ride...I really don't think Paiste made flat rides in anything other than a 602..until the late 70's when they started making them in 2002's and later the 3000's....and that one pictured is neither of those, for sure....

So I do wonder if they are 602's....
