1968 Slingerland Artist/Krupa model 5.5"x14" 1 ply Maple in Tangerine Satin Flame. I've recently picked up a whole set of these. They look to be 80N Buddy Rich model drums all in this finish. I started with the snare drum and cleaned it up, and did some polishing. Enjoy.

Top notch, I love the finish. !! you did a great job on it, !
Aw man, thank you. This drum was pretty clean. Little dirt and webs on it, but it wasnt that bad. The rest of the kit is going to take some elbow grease. Itll be a while but once its complete I'll get the whole kit photographed and posted.

Wow! The Tangerine Satin Flame looks great all cleaned up! Congrats on a fantastic restoration!

Wow, that colour!! Beautifull drum, nice one on the cleaning up, if I was more confident I would take my artist model apart and clean.
I like it a great look also rare as can be
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp
once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
Beauty. Would you be willing to share the serial number?
Hey slingerfan! Check out more about this kit at the DFO website... https://www.drumforum.org/threads/todays-find-slingerland-tangerine-satin-flame.163155/

Thanks Mark. You are correct about this snare not using the tin strap extended wires. This one has the wide clasps for straps that was introduced in mid '68 per Dr CJ Wenk. Pending a serial this one is narrowed down to mid/late '68-early '70. Would also be nice to see a quality photo of the bearing edge/single ply shell.

I've been corrected about the 1 ply. It's really hard to tell, and I still dont see 3 plies. They have the chocolate interiors. I was told they didnt use that paint on the 1 ply drums. I can get the serial number on the snare for ya.
