howdy....

having a tough time finding or rather trying to find someone or some company that carries a wrap that looks like a 58 -59 slingerland aqua green pearl sparkle WHICH AS YOU KNOW IS not a turquoise nor a geen.. I possess a 22 kick and a 13 inch mounted tom in A.G.P.S. i WOULD LOVE TO FIND A 16X 16 FLOOR TOM TO MATCH THE SET. ButI think that 'll be tough ( I am still reeling over the one I lost on Ebay)....however the drums I do have are in great shape and I do own a '58 floor tom in your basic black that I would love to recover....do you know of anyone who might have some vintage wrap or retro wrap that will match the pieces that I own... ANY HELP WOULD BE immensely appreciated

regards;

Well matching any finish on a drum that old can always be tricky. Sparkles are often not too bad, what with the ready availability of many colors today. But Slingerland's Aqua Sparkle of the late 1950s was very green with not much blue, as you know, and is pretty unique. I am not aware of any of the usual suppliers carrying anything close. As far as finding any original wrap, I'm afraid while it's not impossible it will require some patience.

A couple of other options would be the following. You could contact Delmar Plastics to see if they even make anything similar - they are the main manufacturer / supplier for most drum supply houses. If they do make something close they may be able to send you a scrap piece big enough for your tom. Delmar will custom make wrap, but you have to order 10,000 sheets I believe, so obviously an absurd option.

A nice option is getting a custom drum finisher to do a sparkle lacquer to match. This can be done to look almost perfect. It's clearly more costly than wrapping, but it would work. Of course the lacquer would best be done on a maple exterior ply, so your black vintage tom may not be the best candidate.
