52 gretsch drums Last viewed: 59 minutes ago
can someone tell me step by step how to get your attachment to stick with your message please thx
Sent you a PM
:)
just wondering on what the rough value on these drums?
the bassdrum is 24"x14"and the snare is 14"x6 1/2" 3 ply
i believe they are old renowns because of the snare hardware.
the snare came with calf skin head and responso snare wires.
the bass drum has single tension rods and im kinda wondering if they
originally came together or someone just put them together because they
are both maple. they both have the same blue ink on the inside to mark the date (feb 27 1952) but the snare one is kinda smugged and hard to read.
also i wanted to know if those bass spurs are original or not because theres
no holes in the drum and everything on the inside appears to be original
i'm kinda wondering cause i've never seen spurs on the hoop .
Then your pics may be too large.... the parameters are given in the Attachments box
I don't get it???
BUT YOU'RE WELCOME ANYWAY..........
Cool... couldn't tell that by your post.... you have deleted the post about trying the same procedure I sent you several times with no success, so now it appears I posted about the parameters after your pics had already made it...
No problem, just a ripple in the time/space continuum ( had to google that word! )
Killer drums, dude!!
Older bass drums often have hoop-mounted bass spurs... my '41 WFL does
I've seen hoop mounted spurs on bass drums, but I've never seen them drilled through the hoop (they're usually clip-on). I don't think they're original or that they would be very stable. The "handle" on the bass drums also looks after-market. My guess is that these were originally duco painted, and that a previous owner stripped the paint and left them natural maple. Not original, then, but nice 3-ply shells so they probably sound great. Enjoy.
If you're looking for a value, I'de guess its not that high because of all the alterations and the single-tension bass drum and the claws on the snare. For those reasons they won't appeal to collectors. My guess is they could go for a few hundred for the pair on ebay.
