1977 Slingerland 4 piece for $300. Last viewed: 2 hours ago

What's up with this?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320525645078&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I have recently been learning about Rogers and Ludwig but my knowledge of Slingerland is minimal.

I read the history here and it looks like Slingerland was still making 3 ply w/rings shells in 1977.

Common Niles Black and silver badge with serial numbers.

I know certain manufacturers quality died at given times (eg Rogers / Fullerton) but did something happen to Slingerland before 1977 that makes their drums near worthless?

Just seems $300 is cheap for any nice condition American drum set.

Auction ends in 3 hours.

Couple things worth mentioning.... $5 shipping??? LOL And, I wonder if it sat in church for 30 years with that satan kick head. LOL

I didn't bit or offer because I don't trust it.

I felt the same way.

Obviously 2 bidders do not share our feelings. 2 bids at $305 with 40 minutes left.

Well, the starting price was $300

It sold at $300 because of the over all off-putting "vibe" of the listing, and that they are concert toms.

They are worth more than the winning bid, barring any major defects, but how could you tell by the listing? Maybe there were some questions asked of the seller by the two bidders that relieved their concerns.

I feel kinda bad for the seller... after footing the shipping and fees, he's only gonna clear about $180 or so....

I often take chances on auctions like that.

Sometime you get a winner and sometimes you don't.

That wasn't really a set I wanted, otherwise I would have definitely bid.

$5 for shipping??? What was he thinking?

I was pretty close to taking a chance. It was the $5 shipping that got me. LOL

Good luck and let us know how things work out.

Don't take it wrong, and you do whatever you feel lead to do ... but it might be a cool thing to maybe split the shipping for that kit. That's a serious hit for that seller. Just a thought.

I'm waiting for him or her to give me a call so I we can figure out a time for me to pick them up... It's about 180 miles from my house so it should be a good road trip.Coffee Break2
