Thats a drum wrap made acrylic/mylar a form of plastic. It come in chrome, brass, copper and any color you want. If it was true copper by now it would have in a dull blacken color. This type of wrap will last for ever with its luster provided its taken care of. They are also known as acrylic mirror sheets and used in many types of decors including drum sets.

I've got a set of these, and can confirm they are indeed lacquered copper wrap. Typically, the copper on these tarnish over time, as the protective lacquer is easily scratched off.
These are sweet. Slingerland was sure experimenting in the 1970s. Denim, copper, leatherette ... cool! Am I missing any others?
