Just received it yesterday evening and, after a little cleaning and tuning up, I am absolutely blown away by the sound of this drum. It's a joy to play and compliments my playing style more than I had ever imagined. The band I'm working in now will better for it!

There is no real way to stop the pitting once it starts, but after a good cleaning and polishing.....give it a coat of carnuba car wax...this will help slow it down a bit.
