Hi there,
If it's ok, i'd like to start off by saying that I am new to this site and i have been having an absolute field day on it. I've been getting into vintage drums and i have been getting such a wealth of information from this site.
I was having dinner with my dad the other day and i was telling him about his kit which he gave me years ago because i've been checking it out lately and i'd like to set it up and play it. lately i've been playing a 1965 slingerland kit that i've been trying to restore. But anyways, he asked me how much i think that the kit is worth just out of curiousity.
He purchased himself as a young man in 1969.
It was new when he purchased it. the date stamped inside the shells says 1969 although i forgot the month so i'll have to check it. It has the keystone badge with a serial number and says chicago usa.
I believe at that time the color of the wrap was called sky blue pearl.
The kit is in great shape and the sizes are 22", 16", 13", and 12".
It has the original supraphonic snare, and the original paiste cymbals that came with it. also the original speed king and original ludwig hihat stand and other hardware.
The hardware is all in good shape and in working order. I also might add that the speed king is in better shape then any that i've ever seen in pictures online. I'd have to say that the springs in it have been at the same adjustment for 40 years and it still is smooth and snappy. that thing never needs to be re-adjusted.
Anyways, before i write a novel here. I was wondering if i could get an idea of the worth of this kit. I realize that it's almost a sin to ask this without posting pictures but i don't have any currently and i will definitely post some as soon as i get them.
Thank you so much!
