It was pieced together and had been modified. I wouldn't value this set anywhere close to $3,000. You have an $750-$1,000 set right there.

The price has been dropped to $1300, so getting close to your range. Although I'm not sure how it's been pieced together and modified. The only thing visibly wrong on a 2 second scrutiny are the BD hoops, but seller say he has the original ones in the CL ad.

What else?

The serial numbers are all off and the fade is different on each drum. That's an $800 set of drums. He is missing the tom mount and a Ludwig tom bracket has been drilled in the bass drum by the badge.

I didn't see the serial numbers in the listing so I assume you wrote the seller?

I agree about the fade. I also didn't look too closely at the pic of the bass but I can't tell from that that there is an extra mount. It looks like the normal club date mount is missing though?

If this were any other set of club dates I'd be hugely inclined to agree with you on the piece together without hesitation.

But how easy is it to piece together club dates in psych red? Such a task must be virtually impossible.

So if those aren't an original set, then it has to be more likely a rewrap on likely the floor tom? It would also explain the different color tones?

I definitely would want a lot more photos if I were seriously interested in buying from afar.

Well no company has ever re-issued the wrap.(I think Tama tried once) So, the floor tom is original. Just the set came together at different points in time. This how I think it values out...

floor tom:$350

tom:$200

Bass:$300

So around an $800-$1,000 set. It's a rare colored, pieced together, club date set.

OK so if all psych red is original then I have to give this seller or a preceeding owner credit for having pieced together the only club date set in this finish I've ever seen!

...which is why I remain unconvinced this set was pieced together.

...which is why I wouldn't buy this kit myself because I agree there's something weird there, and instead be more than happy with my club dates in boring old champagne sparkle. :)

Ummm.....Ludwig did a few years ago......

And it was available for a little while from Jammin Sam and Precision drums....

Its not exactly the same, but it is close to the original. Also, wasn't there a thread about somebody who can colorscan the original wrap and make a repoduction??
