1960's Gretsch 3 Piece Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Thinking of getting this kit. The badge is the same on the 12" tom and the 16" fl. tom. The bass is missing a badge, but the label from Gretsch is still inside.

Seller said that only 1 or 2 of the rims are original, the rest are not. The set was rewrapped into this sparkle blue in the 90's.

Curious on the value of this kit. Also, any more information in the 60's drums like this would be good. I know Gretsch has some that are highly sought after, and others that aren't...I think!

Thanks,

Kevin

Sorry for the pictures, they look like they were taken with a camera phone or something!

[COLOR="DarkRed"]If it were original wrap, it'd be worth about $850. But given the rewrap, market value is only about $400-450 or so....also because the tom mount system has been replaced with a Pearl-type system, so after-factory holes were cut into the shells. And a badge is gone. If it had the orignal Gretsch hardware mount and all badges, it might be worth $500-600.

Looks like a cute kit...am assuming 20" bass drum ? If it's an 18, then maybe worth $500-525 in the state it's in.

Yes, old Gretschs are good drums...keep in mind the shells are thin maple without reinforcing rings, so they will never get very loud. It'd be a good kit for Jazz or Folk or small combo or acoustic rock...but not great to rock out on...
