Very Nice.
Is that strainer original spec for the drum?
BIG backbeat!
Thanks to Mr. Jerry Jenkins
Yes, the strainer is correct for the model and year. Leedy only manufactured this pattern of strainer (The Standard strainer) for a very limited time apparently making it the rarest Leedy ever produced. When I originally got the drum part of the stainer mechanism was missing and it took a VERY long time to track the part down. Mark Cooper of Cooper's Vintage Drums who sourced it for me said it was the only one he'd ever seen - and he's seen a lot of drums! The sound of the drum is phenomenal, due to the large size and the single piece maple shell.

Thanks Wayne. She's a real beauty and sounds as good as she looks. I've wanted one ever since I read an interview with Simon Philips in a drum mag around 1980 where he said he used a Leedy snare. I have no idea what model he had, but it always stuck with me and so glad I've got one now.
