Yeah, i hear you, that is definitly something to consider. I have a 1954 trans stamp 22" ride that is beautiful and I use it all the time, the hole is of the "newer" standard size. Does not appear to have been enlarged, so maybe the holes where hit and miss? I would not really be using it if it did not fit my stands. Glad it does, because I love it. If it sounds great, a coulpe 16th's of an inch in the hole size never hurt anybody.

I personally have never seen a trans stamp with a larger hole. I'm guessing that yours was enlarged by someone. I have an Istanbul K older New stamp with an enlarged hole that looks like it came that way from the factory although I know it didn't. I personally wouldn't enlarge the hole. If you don't want to use it as is, I suggest you sell it.

Hi. we're past the dating phase of this cymbal but its nice to hear others chime in. You and I are actually almost neighbors. I live in Edison, around 20-25 minutes away from you. I will be selling around 10 cymbals soon, including one old K. through this site and through eBay. When that happens if you see anything you like you can come over for a live listen.

Holes can be enlarged rather neatly by using a reamer and a deburring tool. I wont judge.

I used to be really cavalier about enlarging mounting holes -- old Ks, '40s and '50s As, vintage Zilcos. I had it done professionally (at Maxwell's in NYC) but the point is that I did it. And I regret every one. What a shame...

Just make up some 8mm to 6mm adapters like this ... they screw onto any modern stand:
