15" Giant Beat Hi Hats Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

Through a strange happenstance, I loaned these to a friend 20 years ago or so for a session and lost touch with him. To my surprise, they found their way back to me a few weeks back -- in great shape. I like Paiste and Zildjians, but lack of a job is forcing me to look at this. I have some New Beats from 1980 (hollow label) that are fine, so one of them has to go.

So here is the Giant Beat's condition -- no cracks, chips or dents. No serials. Classic stamp as seen in pictures. They have been partially cleaned (I can hear the moans already...)

I don't have picts for the New Beats but hollow label, picked from the Zildjian factory in May, 1980. Underside labels are great on one, ok on the other. All other ink is gone. No cracks chips or dents.

Any thoughts on how much they're worth.

thanks

My estimate...

The GB's $200 to $250.....add $100 if they had not been polished. Original issue GB's are very rare and sought after.

The Zils, $150 to $200....nice cymbals but nothing special here.

Agreed w/ valuations above....depends on what you wanna do...I would say the Paistes are really the rarer and more sought-after cymbals..so the longer you keep 'em, the more they'll appreciate.

The Zildjians....there are plenty of those around but you can turn them into fast cash w/o too much pain, IMHO.

But if you wanna maximize your cash now, I guess sell the Paistes...

Well -- I guess I'll try to dump the New Beats. I appreciate the insight and am allowing those GB's to get dirty...

thanks a bunch.
