Thanks for the post Jaye.
Like I said - I don't have it accurately weighed - just a crude lbs on a high-end bathroom scale - then converted to metric. There were no rivets in the 8 rivet holes when it came to me.
I sent Zildjian a photo and they sent me a nice email and mailed me some complimentary rivets - silver tube-like - that was very nice of them and I appreciate that. But, I like the rivets that are in my Istanbul Agop - Mel Lewis Sizzle Ride. So I picked some of those up for the K.
About selling or asking price:
I don't intend to ever sell this cymbal or the 14" A Zildjian Hats that came with my 58 Gretsch drums.
This K cymbal is worth more than money to me and I wouldn't part with it. It is a beautiful sounding cymbal. When I get going on that "Night In Tunisia" tune with these 58 Gretsch drums and that K - MAN - there is nothing sweeter sounding to me!
So I can see someone paying whatever $$$$$$ for an old cymbal - they're worth what someone's willing to pay for some of these rare nice sounding cymbals. When you think they were selling for $40 or $50 back in the day that's pretty incredible!
Well...an old K is a different story.Just IMHO...someone would be a damn fool to pay anywhere NEAR $1g for an Avedis 24" regardless of the weight. Mmmmmmmayyyybeeeee a trans-stamp 24" at a perfect weight could get into a bid war up to $1000....but I am not even so sure of that.Any other A. 24"....hell, worth between maybe $250-600 absolute tops....even in a nice weight.....Gary.....yours is a K....technically a 19"....old stamp 19" ?.....hella thin if it's anything under 1400g !!!!....and if the rivets aren't recent.....and it's in good shape.....sure, you could try a BIN of $999 and see if anyone bites. It's not a crazy price to ask.
