8 lug drum with "sticksaver" hoops; it's a Hollywood Ace. Right before they came out with the Rapid, Slingerland used the three point strainer without the bridges on the Hollywood Ace.

An Ace with that throw would have 16 lugs, wouldn`t it ? And Ace without that throw would have flanged hoops too.

Not an Ace.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

The rare "Hollywood King" ........:)

Just a 3-ply Student Radio King from '56 to '59 with the hoops switched out....

Too simple, I know, but that's what I'm seeing.

Thanks guys, now I'm more confused then ever. That's ok, I guess it makes no difference what it is as long as it sounds good.

I'll find out today at rehearsal.

Most agree with the 56-59... For the moment I am convinced that it's a "Deluxe Radio Ace"..

The rehearsal may prove me wrong though..

Cheers

Sorry, wrong. Look at the late '50s catalogs. 5" Hollywood Ace has 8 sound lugs and sticksaver hoops like the drum in question. Call it whatever you want... the difference between a Hollywood Ace and the student radio king 8 the hoops and this drum has the sticksavers.
